The client brief was to demolish the existing under-utilised storeroom creating 5 new flats to the rear and an additional flat over the existing first floor flat and ground floor offices. BCB were initially appointed by clients to advise on and obtain Building Regulation approval for plans which had been previously commissioned and received planning permission. BCB saw the space had not been used to best advantage, improved the layouts and gained clients a further 2 flats in the process! BCB obtained the planning approval and were retained from inception to completion.
Initially planning approval was refused for the BCB design with extra flats but this decision was successfully overturned on appeal.
The finished project: new-build of six flats, one of which is over the top of the pre-existing flat which has been incorporated within the design, complete with parking. Offices were in full occupation throughout with only very short term occupany loss for the first floor resident.
